PLEASE REPOST IMMEDIATELY, KIND SOUL! HELP YOUR FRIENDS GET CLOSER TO DOING GOOD DEEDS!
This bundle of joy, the fifth child of the large Markoidze family, is plagued by all the illnesses of the world!
That’s how fate has decided. “The Lord’s ways are inscrutable,” his mother repeats from the moment of his birth. Nature did not spare the child from serious diagnoses: twisted ankles, intellectual disability, poor vision, lower jaw dysfunction, a severe sepsis at birth. “Not a survivor” – that was the doctors’ verdict. But against all medical odds, Mathe survived! And now the little angel is already four years old. He brings joy to the family simply by being alive. Although he can’t walk, he crawls, he can’t speak, but he communicates what he needs.
“For Mom and for us, Mathe is the most cherished boy. We all carry him in our arms.”
Anna-Maria (13 years old): There are many of us, and we all love Mathe more than life itself. When he was brought home for the first time, I was even afraid to touch him. He was so fragile, so tiny, crying softly like a kitten. But now I can even pick him up in my arms. I’ve grown up alongside him too!
Just one more step, another one. Come on, you can do it!
That’s it, Mathe is tired, Mathe can’t go on anymore.
Mathe disappeared. No sign of Mathe. Let’s not make his little legs hurt… Mathe is exhausted from walking.
Anastasia (12 years old): When Mom told us he can’t see or hear, we couldn’t really grasp what that means. Then she asked us to blindfold our eyes and cover our ears and try walking or sitting like that. It was eerie. I couldn’t help but feel immense pity for him. Seeing him like that made me cry.
Nuca (10 years old): I asked Mom, “Can we give him hand kisses? Where doesn’t he hurt?” But it seemed like everything hurt. And now, look at him – trapped in “stone legs”! I can’t even imagine how he copes there, especially in this heat. I doubt I could endure it.
“Mathe had to wear these cursed ‘stone legs’ because he was treated incorrectly.”
Khatuna: All the talk is about Mathe. Yet, we don’t have toys or proper clothes for ourselves. Where can we get them when all our family’s resources go into Mathe’s treatment.
“Everything will be fine soon, little one!”
– Khatuna, please tell us, what’s going on with him?
Khatuna: My little Mathe was born sick. Sick is an understatement! He’s four years old, but he can’t walk or talk, can’t feed himself. His vision and hearing are poor. You can’t imagine how awful it is! I can’t even remember all the diagnoses. Since his birth, it’s been like a fog. Endless resuscitations, people in white coats… Just a nightmare.
In the maternity ward, they handed Mathe to us saying he wouldn’t survive. We took him to Batumi. He spent 45 days in the ICU there, but we weren’t given much hope in Batumi. So, we took him to Turkey. Two clinics outright refused to accept him, saying the child was dying. In the third clinic, they finally agreed to take us in. That’s when we sold everything we had – a tractor, a cow, everything. We went into debt not only ourselves but also our relatives. We had to ask absolutely everyone! Turkish doctors sent us back to Georgia, saying that we needed to first address his legs and then undergo mandatory surgery on his lower jaw.
“Do you know what they told us? That my little Mathe should never have been born!”
Imagine hearing such words as a mother! We spent about three months in Tbilisi clinics, exhausting all possible resources, but with no results. They even refused to release the child to us, saying that we wouldn’t be able to cope on our own. Thanks to my mother-in-law. Tsiuri is a Saint! She’s like a mother to me. She never left us alone for a moment. She insisted that we bring the baby home. And even now, when my husband and I work in the field all day, it’s her who watches over and cares for my poor boy.
“Doctors were reluctant to give us the child back, claiming that we wouldn’t manage to take care of him on our own.”
– Khatuna, what is the current opinion of the doctors? What are their prognosis?
Khatuna: A specific diagnosis was established for his legs – deformation of the ankle joint. He underwent surgeries, and his legs were in casts for a while. However, we were later informed that we were treating him incorrectly. That’s why we reached out to you. We need to travel to Yerevan for further examinations. There, they will tell us about the child’s condition and whether he will ever be able to walk independently. Right now, every step he takes causes him unimaginable pain.
“Mathé has united our family. The children only think about how to please him, how to make him happy.”
– Are you sure they will help there?
Khatuna: Yes! I am certain that there is salvation. In Tbilisi, they told us that Mathé is completely blind. But that’s not true. He sees and hears something. He loves playing with his sisters. The doctors’ predictions were discouraging. They said that my boy would be like a plant for his whole life. But look at how he plays with his sisters. We don’t want to believe in these foolish notions! The Lord is merciful, He will not forsake His child! That’s why I turned to your foundation. We are simple people, afraid of missing something in our child’s treatment. And I know that you will guide me in the right direction to heal my son. You have helped not just one mother who is heartbroken.
“Can you really trust all the doctors? According to them, Mathé shouldn’t be able to see or hear, yet he plays with his sisters.”
– What is the most challenging part of raising a child with an illness?
Khatuna: When you watch and can’t help, it’s excruciating agony for any parent. Everything is difficult, especially realizing that your child will never be whole, will never live like all the normal people do!
“Mathe must live despite all the diagnoses.”
– What specific assistance did you seek from our Foundation?
Khatuna: As I mentioned earlier, we sold everything we had. Besides treating our baby, we need to feed five more children. We receive some support, and my husband occasionally works during harvest season, while I sweep the streets, but even these earnings are insufficient. I can’t say the children go hungry, but beyond food, we can’t provide them with anything else. Can you imagine, we don’t even have a television! There’s absolutely nothing! Moreover, our house is on the verge of collapsing. There’s a huge hole in the ceiling, and during rain, water pours in like from a bucket. But right now, our only plea is to help cure our son! The most important thing at this moment is the health of our little Mathe. We haven’t lost hope that there might be a way to assist him.
“We can live in a partially ruined house. But the most important thing at the moment is the health of our little Mathe.”
– Why did you decide to turn to us specifically?
Khatuna: Because you truly help many people! You already helped us two years ago. Back then, it was a lifeline for us. But now we are again in a desperate situation. It was very embarrassing to ask for help again, considering there are so many unfortunate people in Georgia. However, your Foundation has many friends. I’m confident that all of them are kind-hearted individuals, since they help so many in need. My little son really needs your assistance. We are not capable of handling this on our own!
“My unfortunate son cannot manage without your help.”
– In your opinion, what do you need most urgently?
Khatuna: Continuous funds are needed for Mathe’s treatment, and we simply don’t have them. There’s nowhere to get them from. Our meager income goes towards visiting doctors. Because of this, our other children are deprived of everything. They look like ragged children, with no clothes or toys. I won’t even mention our dreadful living conditions. We would appreciate any assistance. May the Lord bless everyone who reads about us and takes our plight to heart. Even those who cannot help us in any way, let them at least pray for the health of our Mathe!
“Whether the boy Mathe can live a full life is up to you, friends. Besides us, there is no one else to hope for.”
Friends, the Markoidze family finds themselves in an incredibly challenging situation both morally and financially! Fate has determined that little Mathe was born into this world with multiple illnesses. The treatment required for the child demands exorbitant sums, an unbearable burden for this modest Georgian family. We cannot remain indifferent to the parents’ misfortune and are obligated to help them get their son back on his feet!
The Markoidze family is in need of any assistance, whether it’s diapers, children’s clothing, or household appliances. We cannot leave them without support.
If you wish to visit the family and provide help in person, here is their address: Ozurgeti Municipality, Nagomari Village.
Every time you can help someone, just do it, and rejoice that God answers someone’s prayers through you!
We are sure that all together we will manage to save them from imminent death.
Please don’t forget to repost our story. Let your friends know about the grief of this family! It’s extremely important!

This is what happiness looks like…
…and this is what endless sorrow looks like.
This is how the poor boy suffered before the surgery. The child couldn’t stand on his feet for even a second. For four years, he never once looked at toys.
Friends of the Fund, today we are so happy, and we want to share this happiness with you. Four-year-old Mate, who couldn’t stand on his feet and whose mother couldn’t afford the surgery due to poverty, is now walking. How did this happen? It’s all thanks to your immense kindness, dear people. Over 13,000 lari was raised for the child’s surgery abroad. Mate Markoidze was reborn thanks to you, faithful friends of the Fund.
This is what a happy mother looks like. Look at her sparkling eyes!
This is Mate’s mother, Khathuna. For four years, this young woman had nothing but tears in her eyes as she watched her son suffer every day. A mother’s heart suffers the most when she cannot help her sick child. Who knows how long the mother and child’s suffering would have continued. But thank God, there are many kind-hearted people in little Georgia who take the suffering of other children to heart as if it were their own.
Because Georgia is the land of the Virgin Mary, and that’s probably why Georgian mothers are the most empathetic in the world.
The mother puts shoes on her child for the first time after the surgery.
Mate’s legs were so crooked that his mother couldn’t even put shoes on him. Can you imagine how terrible that was? After the surgery, the boy’s legs straightened, and now the happy mother is putting shoes on her son for the first time.
Oh, God! Oh, God! What happiness has come to the Markoidze family!
This is how severely Mate’s legs were bent, crossed over each other. It’s impossible to describe the suffering that little Mate endured every day.
This photo was also taken before the surgery. Look, bitter tears are streaming from the child’s eyes.
Due to his crooked legs, the poor boy was in terrible pain. The child cried bitterly without stopping, and there was no one to save him. But with your help, dear people, this suffering boy has turned into a happy child.
After the surgery, Mate is already ready to play.
Look, after the surgery, the child is playing with a ball with his mother and sisters. From today, Mate will have a happy childhood. And when the boy grows up, his mother will tell him that kind strangers gave him such a happy childhood.
Mate can stand on his own.
Look at how firmly the boy stands on his feet. Another Georgian hero is growing up for our homeland. When he grows up, he will stand strong and defend his homeland.
This photo shows the tragedy that unfolded in the Markoidze family.
For four years, every day, Mate’s sisters and brothers lived with tears in their eyes. Look at the pain in each of their eyes.
This photo was taken after the surgery. Oh, how happy they are!
“Brother, your recovery has made me the happiest!”
Little Anastasia could barely hold her brother before the surgery.
Mate’s sisters used to carry their beloved brother like this. From today, they won’t have to do this anymore. Now Mate will proudly hold his sisters’ hands, and together they will walk through the beautiful meadows of their village.
Anastasia (12-year-old): “When I saw the video of my brother on the Chernovetskyi Fund’s website, honestly, I was still afraid that we wouldn’t raise enough money for the surgery abroad. When the Fund called us and said that the money for Mate’s surgery had been raised, we cried with joy, my sisters and I. I will remember these emotions for the rest of my life. I don’t even know how to thank those strangers who took Mate’s story to heart and donated at least one lari.”
Look at this grandmother, how happy she is about Mate’s recovery.
This is Grandma Guliko. She lives next door to the Markoidze family. When she heard that representatives from the Chernovetskyi Fund had come to visit the child after the surgery, Grandma Guliko couldn’t stay at home and came to see the Markoidze family. Do you know why did she come? She asked the Fund’s correspondent to thank everyone who helped Mate.
Guliko (74 years old): “The whole village worried that Mate couldn’t stand on his feet. But the surgery abroad was expensive, and we couldn’t help the child. It was very sad knowing that our little prince was suffering because of poverty. My dear (addressing the correspondent), I’m already old and weak, but when I heard that the money for Mate’s surgery was raised, I nearly ran with joy forgetting about my age. May God bless everyone who helped with the child’s recovery.”
With your help, dear friends of the Fund, the heartbreaking story of this family has come to a happy end.
But this isn’t the end—it’s the beginning! But this isn’t the end —it’s the beginning! The happiest chapter in the Markoidze family’s life is just starting.
