Parents have peace of mind: the children will not go hungry! Thank you to everyone who lent a helping hand to the Ozashvili family. The house where the Ozashvili family used to temporarily live was like a waking nightmare. Everything creaked and cracked, and mice scurried underfoot. In a completely empty house with bare walls three people were crying at once: mom Lia and two little children – Anna-Maria and Lazare. There was no table, nor what to put on the table. Anna-Maria kept repeating: “Bread, mom, bread…” Our immense gratitude to the Chernovetskyi Fund’s friends! You gave the young family everything possible: food, household appliances, furniture.

0901200270This is what child hunger looks like! Anna-Maria cried all night and begged her mom for a piece of bread! Even just a crumb… But in this house, there’s no bread or even crumbs! It’s filled only with endless sorrow and disgusting mice and rats!
This rat took the last piece of bread that mom was counting on. Now there’s nothing to comfort the children. They’ll cry even more throughout the day.
If you, thank God, have never seen what child hunger looks like, don’t look away… Look into the eyes of 3-year-old beauty Anna-Maria. Are children born to suffer and starve?! But we don’t know whom to ask this question…
Lazare, too, won’t stop writhing and twisting from stomach pain. He’s used to eating not according to his age or what’s customary, but whatever there is, whatever they give…
Here’s what mom cooked from whatever was available. There’s beans, potatoes, even pieces of stale bread. Even the Nazis didn’t feed captives like this!
And this is what’s left from what the neighbors recently gave. Everything spoils because the family doesn’t have a refrigerator.
Anna-Maria’s sweet little brother, Lazare, won’t stop crying either, but he’s in even more pain: he’s started having terrible stomach pains from hunger!
Lia: I’m at a loss for what to do, how to get out of this situation. There’s no one to turn to. Our relatives can’t help, and it’s already weighing on my conscience to ask strangers. Without our neighbors, my children would have been dead from hunger long ago. The allowance we receive isn’t sufficient, and the little money my husband earns barely covers a few meals.
And this is the loving mother of hungry angels – Lia! What beauties she has brought into Georgia! She has a husband. And he works, but there is never enough money, and most of the month the children go hungry!
– Lia, did you always live in such poverty?
Lia: One year ago, we lived like kings! My husband worked on a farm, and he had a good salary. He even brought candies! But the farm is gone, and so far he can’t find a permanent job! He doesn’t refuse any job! Today he’s a laborer. The other day he was paid 10 lari! He brought it all home!
At three, Anna learned how to cook beans by herself! When there are any at home, of course! But if you don’t watch her, she won’t wait and will burn her little mouth on the raw beans! And she’ll treat her little brother with a sore tummy! Lord, Lord, is this really possible!?
There are people who, when reading our posts about children’s suffering, ask, “Why did she give birth to so many children?!”
And we respond, “Healthy children are a blessing! Children are a gift from God! Children are the future of Georgia! We just hope they grow up healthy! Who knows, maybe one of them will become the President of Georgia! Theoretically, they have the same chances as any other child in the country! If we give them life! But what will the future of Georgia be like if we don’t come together as one family – that’s a big question!” “To be or not to be, that is the question,” said Prince Hamlet hundreds of years ago! He was a good and wise heir to the throne! But… He perished from poison! Let’s not allow our own future, where our own children will live, to be destroyed!
Show them these photos when you get the chance, friends! Let’s teach them kindness and let them be proud of their kind mom and dad! They should know that their parents didn’t abandon the characters in our sad story! It’s just a pity that it’s not a fairy tale!
– Is there no one helping you?
Lia: I have 12 siblings, and my family is poor. My husband’s family also lives in poverty. And they were upset with us for a long time when we started a family. They didn’t want it. Both my parents and my husband’s parents were against it. On one hand, I understand them. When we had children, I began to understand my parents more. I was 15 when I got married, and my husband was 19. Of course, it was very early for both of us, but as they say, heart goes its own way. We love each other very much, and it helps us get through this terrible period in our lives. I’m not talking about other needs; right now, the most important thing for me is to ensure that the children are not hungry. To distract them from hunger, I turn on the television for them. It helps. They watch TV and forget about hunger. But it helps only for a short while. On the second day, the endless crying starts again!
The only joy for the children is the old TV borrowed from the neighbor. That’s the only way Mom can distract them from hunger.
– As you said, love is the most important thing in a family, but when there’s nothing to feed the children, love alone isn’t enough to live on.
Lia: I thought long and hard, and then I decided to address you. I know that people don’t like the poor, they condemn them. I know that now people will start saying: “If you didn’t have the means, why did you have children? You’re just contributing to the cycle of poverty here and then asking for help…” I know, but I’ve come to terms with it. If that’s the case, only those who earn well can start a family, can have children, while we, homeless and poor, must live quietly and not show ourselves to anyone. Don’t we have the right to live? Did God create the earth only for the rich?
“Can only the wealthy have children? Don’t I have the right to be the mother of these wonderful kids?”
– What are you saying, Lia! Don’t think like that! Who dares to say that your children don’t have the right to live? And what about us?
Lia: I know you’ll understand me. One year ago, we were very happy. Despite not having our own home and living with others, God always sends us kind people who allow us to live for free. We simply can’t afford to pay rent.
“We have nothing intact. Everything is falling apart, just like our lives.”
– Lia, how do you cope with this desperate situation when each day becomes even harder?
Lia: It’s unbearable. We’ve exhausted all possibilities. My children cry from hunger, and I feel powerless. We need help, otherwise our children will be on the brink of life and death. It’s a real hell. I’m a mother, and I can’t provide proper food for my children. They cry from stomach pain, and I feel like they’ll die right in front of me. I don’t know how to deal with this. My heart breaks from pain and helplessness. I feel like a completely helpless mother, unable to provide for my children’s needs.
“When I think about the future, I imagine horrifying scenes of my children dying from hunger.”
– What do you see when you imagine your family’s future without the necessary help?
Lia: I see darkness and emptiness. Without support, our future is the loss of children, the loss of hope. It’s unbearable. The scariest moment is the thought that they’ll die from hunger. This thought haunts me at night when I lie next to them.
“Now Dad will sell the scrap metal he collected over the past few days. And with the money earned, he’ll buy bread for the kids, and maybe, also pasta.”
This story is not just a call to action. It’s a cry for help in peacetime. Lia and her children have fallen into the trap of hunger, and time is running out. The salvation of the children depends on each of us. We cannot remain indifferent to this tragedy.
Children should not suffer from hunger. Let’s do everything we can to protect this family from tragedy. Repost it, give these children a chance for a normal life! Because together we save lives.
If you are willing to visit the family and help them in person, here is their address: Tetritskaro municipality, village Koda.
Every time you can help someone, just do it, and rejoice that God answers someone’s prayers through you!
We are sure that all together we will manage to save this family from imminent death.

We have already helped thousands of disadvantaged people! Let’s support this family too! And who knows, maybe someday we ourselves will need the help of strangers! Life is always unpredictable!
Baby Anna-Maria has learned a new word – “beautiful”! That’s what she says about all the new things
Anna-Maria kept repeating: “Bread, mom, bread…”
In an empty dilapidated house, mice ran around, and, to our horror, a beautiful little girl was living there.
– Levan, what helped you the most in this situation? Where and how do you live now? Tell us, please.
Levan (father of the children): On the day you came to film our family and our terrible conditions, I was in despair. In the morning, I couldn’t find work for the day (I work as a day laborer) and brought home only bread.
Levan: “The children were hungry, and I was most happy about the food!”Lia (children’s mom): During the project, I went to the store and bought a lot of things! I got meat products. Anna-Maria loves them so much, she eagerly ate and even asked for more.
Levan: “My wife is good, understanding, she never blames poverty. But I saw how she struggled with hand washing. Lia is happy, and I am happy with her.”I now cook on a new gas stove, not on a wood stove. We finally have one. I make soups for my children, mashed potatoes, porridge – everything the little ones should eat. We sit at the table like civilized people. Thank you, everyone! Do you remember our rickety table against the wall with grease stains? Nothing like that anymore! Now we have breakfast and lunch first class – in cleanliness and beauty! No one stands while eating, we can all sit at the table at the same time. Can you believe that?
Lia: “We have lunch first class, all together. Everyone has their own chair!”Levan: In that cursed house, I didn’t know where to put the pot so that a mouse wouldn’t get into it. And if not the mice, then the food would still spoil by the next day without a refrigerator. Everything that had been gained with such bitterness and work was spoiled. We put an end to that too. We have an excellent refrigerator now!
Levan: “Everything I earn, I now put in the refrigerator. Not a single mouse will eat the children’s food!”Lia: We started getting enough sleep; the fatigue accumulated over many months is fading away. It’s one thing to have an iron bed with a worn-out mattress, where your whole body feels battered, and it’s another thing to have a normal, comfortable one where the mattress is adjusted to your spine. I wake up later than usual with the kids, don’t scold me. We never had such happiness before — to live in normal conditions.
Lia: “Only on these beds have our backs rested. We all suffered so much before!”
“When you have such beds, you can become a sleepyhead.” After long ordeals, you can do anything!Lia (addressing her daughter): Anna-Maria, lower the volume, we’re talking with auntie.
– Did you turn on the TV yourself?
Lia: Oh, she’s such a talented little mischief-maker! She learned everything in no time, she will teach you too – she is like that (smiles). She turns it on, turns it off, and surfs YouTube. She hops around all the channels, knows everything. If she takes the remote control — that’s it! There won’t be any movies for us. Just her “toonie-toons,” that is, cartoons.
This TV is under Anna-Maria’s personal control and shows as many cartoons as she commands! You gave me a new phone, and she managed to get into that too! She takes pictures of all of us on the phone: her little brother, me, Levan. She can upload photos to TikTok, to Facebook. Yep!
– Have you personally met anyone from the Fund’s friends?
Lia: Girls from Tbilisi came to visit us, they were very friendly, warm-hearted. They brought everything the kids needed: clothes, shampoos, wet wipes, groceries, sweets. Anna-Maria really liked the guests; she begged me not to let them go, asking them to stay and play (smiling).
We haven’t had the chance to see any other helpers, but I want to say a big thank you to everyone! May God give you everything at once: health, progress, happiness! Live in joy, free from trouble. I will always pray for you!
Levan: First of all – I wish you health! Thank you for helping us to get out of poverty. It’s my dream to get my family out of need and poverty. Many people in Georgia need your help. We have too many unhappy and poor people. May the hand that gives never be empty! God Himself helps you in such a noble and worthy cause.
– Lia, Levan, what do you need right now?
Levan: I want to tell you with gratitude that everything is fine. But I can’t hide our problems either. Living in that terrible house still had its consequences for us. A piece of roofing tile fell on Anna-Maria, and she got a head injury. This happened several months ago. I don’t want to recall what we went through. Kind people helped us with medicines, and we did everything necessary on time. But the hematoma hasn’t completely healed, Anna-Maria needs fortified nutrition. I sincerely ask you about this.
You can’t get rid of poverty overnight. And living in dangerous conditions always affects health. All together, we are relieving our citizens of need, illness, and dire circumstances. Thanks to you, the Ozashvili family has experienced a better life. But the little girl Anna-Maria still needs our support.
If you have a heavy heart because of everyday problems or unresolved issues, as a distraction just see our posts on Facebook, or better call any of our beneficiaries, and all your problems will seem unimportant to you, compared with the problems of those to whom you helped in the most difficult moment of their lives.
Our problems are nothing if compared… Here are true misfortunes, in front of your eyes! Just thank the Lord for what you have. You are the happiest person in the world! Remember this and help those in need.
Unfortunately, problems of this and other families do not end here and now… Therefore, from time to time, look through the stories of unhappy people on our website, and talk to them. Every time you dial the Phone of an unhappy person, God is blessing you! For sure! Go on helping these families! This is the best service to the Lord!
