The house is a torture chamber for children! If we don’t warm them with love, irreversible tragedy will soon strike! Mzevinar, the mother, is uncertain whether she and her children can be rescued. She’s reaching out for our help, refusing to accept that God has decreed perpetual suffering for her family. Her husband, Avtandil, already once jailed for domestic violence, is a drunken brute, creating an atmosphere of fear, while his wife and children – Rusudan and Tariel – are hostages of fear and violence! After the brute’s release from prison, they are once again taken hostage by Avtandil. Rusudan has been living in her own world for 23 years now. She never had any friends, and she only talks to herself. “Tariel is afraid of everything. Even the word ‘father’ triggers panic attacks in him. His hands shake, and he starts to stutter.”

This is how Mzevinar and her children’s “strict regime prison” looks like. We didn’t even dare to show what’s happening inside this prison-like home.
Rusudan has been living in her own world for 23 years now. She never had any friends, and she only talks to herself.
“Tariel is afraid of everything. Even the word ‘father’ triggers panic attacks in him. His hands shake, and he starts to stutter.”
– What is wrong with your children, Mzevinar?
Mzevinar: I don’t know how to put it right, Rusudan – she’s not from this world. She hides from this cruel world, probably. She doesn’t even go to eat by herself. And if she gets out of bed, she doesn’t know how to walk properly. If I hold her hand, she might go to the yard with me, but she would perish alone.
Tariel understands everything well, but he also doesn’t leave the house. As soon as he hears shouting and scolding, his hands start shaking from anxiety, he starts stuttering… He has no one – no friends, no relatives. He also doesn’t leave the room. And I sit with them.
– What do you feel when you look at your children?
Mzevinar: I blame myself for bringing them into this horror. Seeing their suffering tears my heart apart, and I feel defenseless and helpless. Years of terror have made me a powerless person too. I don’t even know what to do, how to escape from all of this.
‘I don’t know how to help myself and how to help the children…’
‘I was always taught that a wife should obey her husband and fear him.’
– Why do you tolerate violence from your husband?
Mzevinar: I’m afraid. I’m afraid for the children. Fear envelops me like a shadow, and I see no way out. I’ve become helpless, and I can’t change anything anymore. I’m paralyzed with fear!
– How can we help you, dear?
Mzevinar: Look around. I can’t think straight anymore. I want to create some kind of comfort for the children. They need beds and clothes. And, of course, I need to feed and have them examined by doctors! Fear has erased everything in our lives. Even when the phone rings, the children whisper and ask, “Is it dad? Is he coming home?” – and there’s sheer terror in their eyes!!!
Everything at home is falling apart. There are no proper beds, no groceries. I don’t have any relatives or close ones! My in-laws were very kind, but they are already in heaven! And where am I with my children? Neither on earth nor in heaven! Help me come into my senses, and most importantly, take care of the children! Otherwise, I will also leave this world. And what will happen to my children then – I can’t even think about it! It would be a world of horror!
– Oh my God! I don’t even know what to say to you, how to protect you… Do you have any relatives or close ones who could stand up for you?
Mzevinar: My parents passed away a long time ago. I don’t have any brothers alive either. And nobody wants to get involved in another family’s problems. We have such a law: a woman should endure! And look where it leads to.
– And how did you get married?
Mzevinar: Nobody even asked me. We were betrothed, and they told me: ‘You’re his wife!’ That’s it.
The only bright spot in the family is the old television. It’s their only window to the world outside.
– What could bring joy to your children?
Mzevinar: Well, Rusudan might be thrilled with a pretty dress, but it could lead to a row if Dad doesn’t approve. He’s not keen on fancy dresses, and as for makeup – forget about it. Tariel might enjoy a tablet, but that’s also out of the question. So, I’m asking for your help with groceries, beds, a refrigerator, and also to fix the roof.
Today, we’re reaching out with a heartfelt appeal for assistance for the Mzevinar family, facing an incredibly challenging situation. This family has found themselves trapped in a cycle of fear, violence, and illness, and they need your support to break free from this nightmare.
Mzevinar is facing a difficult choice: to continue enduring violence from her husband or to find a way out of this nightmare. But how can she escape from this “strict regime prison”?
For many families facing similar difficulties, societal support is crucial. They need to know they are not alone and that others will stand up for them. Creating a safe space for the family, where children can thrive and feel protected, should be a priority.
We didn’t try to sugarcoat or exaggerate their situation. We told it like it is… Sharing this story can draw attention from organizations focused on human rights protection and combating domestic violence.
It’s important to emphasize that such stories should not go unnoticed by society. They require a comprehensive approach and joint efforts to change the living conditions of people in such extremely difficult circumstances.
If you are willing to visit the family and help them in person, here is their address: Akhaltsikhe municipality, town of Vale, 79 Manvelishvili Str.
Every time you can help someone, just do it, and rejoice that God answers someone’s prayers through you!
We are sure that all together we will manage to save this family from imminent death.
