“Look, my mom has seven stitches on her head!” – a little beauty Bella says – “Such terrible things happen to her! She collapses, rolls her eyes, and can’t stop shaking! ”
Oh, God! There is so much sadness in the beautiful eyes of this child… The baby is only 9 years old, every day she sees how her dear mother suffers severe attacks, she sees how a terrible disease drains her mother’s life force. A child’s heart hurts, because her mother can collapse any second and hit her head – anything can happen to her!

Charity Number: One call saves a life!

Phone number:

– Bella, what do you do when your mom gets sick?

– I quickly cover her with a blanket and run to the neighbors. To call for help… We don’t have phone – how can I call ambulance? – the girl tries not to look into my eyes. – We have absolutely nothing. And I don’t want anything, if only mommy wouldn’t get sick!

We barely found this creepy ruined house where mother Natia lives with her two wonderful kids – 5-year-old Giorgi and 9-year-old Bella. It was simply impossible to imagine that people could live here… This room is even worse inside than outside: it’s damp, dirty, with soot from wood-burning stove all around…. Two iron beds, two chairs and a table – that’s how these poor children live. They want nothing – they only want their mom to be safe and sound.

“I can collapse anytime anywhere and be unconscious for about 20 or 30 minutes… You see, I hit my head so many times! And I don’t remember when and how it happened. My children tell me what’s happening to me. They get so scared, poor ones!” – the unfortunate woman cries. – “After the first attacks I thought it was the end, but as you see, I got used to it. We got used to everything – to poverty, hunger, and cold…”

Now let’s tell everything in order. Mom Natia and her two children – 5-year-old Giorgi and 9-year-old Bella – live in a… well, I don’t know how to call it. In a barn? In a shack? In a hut?  But they live there. In no way it can be called home.

There is nothing here – only two iron beds and a table. Dampness, sadness, and pain – that’s it!

When mother Natia had her first epileptic attack, immediately followed by the second and third one, they told her that it was from nerves and that she had to change something.

Natia: What to change? How to change? I knew what caused all this. Not a good life. My husband beat me – I passed out many times, this is the reason for my disease. I don’t even remember what it’s called. I don’t remember many things. During the attacks, I hit my head many times, I have seven stitches on my head! My whole head is punched, do you want to touch it?

– Natia, how often do the attacks happen?

Natia: Quite often, sometimes several times a day. For instance, I had one attack in the morning and another one before you came. Sometimes a week passes, yet nothing happens… I don’t know what does it depend on. I am passed out for 20-30 minutes… I don’t remember myself, my children tell me.

– How do you manage to cope with that?

Natia: My mother lives with us. She can’t leave me alone even for a second. My kids are still young, and they are afraid of me. I don’t remember anything what happens to me, I switch off and come to my senses on the floor … I am foaming from the mouth… It used to be very scary for me. I cried after each attack, I thought it was the end, but I got used to it.

– I can’t imagine how one can get used to that…

Natia: Oh, dear, a person can get used to anything … We got used to hunger, to the cold, we got used that we are beggars, that they laugh at my children … But what to do?

– What to do, indeed? You are sick, your mother cannot work, she looks after you, the children are little. What do you live on?

Natia: A social allowance is our only income. We get 220 GEL and we pay 90 GEL for rent. With the rest of money we buy medications and food. Without medications attacks happen to me 3-4 times a day! My body just can’t stand it. Then it takes time for me to come to senses, to start thinking … My mind is already like a sieve, I forget everything …

– Natia, what do you usually eat? Does anybody help you?

Natia: Our neighbors are very kind, sometimes they treat us with lunch, sometimes they take the children to their place and give them food. We can’t even bathe normally. I can’t wash children’s clothes normally. We bring water, and I wash things in cold water with my hands… Bella says that although the clothes are clean, they still look dirty … That’s why she is embarrassed to go to school … (Cries.)

Bella: Don’t be silly, don’t cry. I don’t go to school to be with you!

– Bella, can I talk to you?

Bella: Okay. When mom starts crying, it is difficult to calm her down. I’ll tell you everything.

– Why don’t you go to school?

Bella: I told you I need to look after my mom. What if she hits her head, and there is no one nearby? Someone should call for help.

– Is it the only reason?

Bella: If I tell you do you promise not to tell anybody? I don’t like going to school… Everyone laughs at me there. I don’t have friends. I think, it’s because of my clothes. They are all torn and look dirty.

– What kind of clothes would you like to have?

Bella: I don’t know… What kind can it be? Not like this. Not the ones that look dirty. And without holes. It would be better for my mom to have a washing machine – it’s very hard for her to wash by hands. And she does not let me to wash the laundry. She says that girls cannot keep their hands in cold water. Isn’t she a girl?

– You probably want to have dresses like cartoon princesses have?

Bella: I don’t know what kind of dresses do they have… I don’t know how the princesses in the cartoons look like. I’ve never seen cartoons, never.

I did not expect to hear such a thing… Tears started flowing from me involuntarily. A 9-year-old girl, who looks like a princess herself, has never – you know, never – watched cartoons… She has no idea who the princesses are, no idea that there are beautiful dresses, and beautiful dolls; that there is a life that is so different from her usual life… She has no idea…

Bella: Oh, you started crying too… The adults are like cry-babies!

– Natia, I don’t know what to tell you. Tell me, please, what can we do for you to make your life easier? What do you need first of all?

Natia: I don’t even know. Foodstuffs, probably. And beds. Can I ask for one more thing? For a washing machine? Honestly, it’s really difficult for me to wash by hands… And I can’t remove stains from the old clothes that kind people give us. I need medications… And can I ask for sausages for my children? They love them so much.

– Maybe anything else?

Bella: May I say? We don’t have a phone. When mom is sick and I have to urgently call a doctor or call for help, I rush to our neighbors and ask them to give me a phone. May we have an old phone? I don’t ask it for me, but for my mom.

What to say? What to add more? The words have lost their sense. Everything loses sense when you see such things.

Natia Aptsiauri and her children are beyond poverty, they need absolutely everything: foodstuffs, medications, clothes and shoes for children, a computer, a telephone, beds, and basic furniture. A fridge, gas stove and washing machine would make their life much easier.

For the first time in our life, we also got a bit of happiness!

REPOST RIGHT AWAY, MY GOOD MAN! HELP YOUR FRIENDS TO GET CLOSER TO THE WORK OF MERCY!

“Bella! Help!” – Gio calls his sister. It looks like he found himself in the warehouse of a confectionery factory. There are eight boxes of different cookies around Gio. He wanted to count, but got confused, because he can only count to ten. And there is a lot in the box. And they are so delicious and crispy. You eat them without noticing how they disappear.

“Let’s first eat the ones with jam,” – the older sister decides. – Then chocolate, then these, with a pattern. One more, and that’s it. Okay, two more, and that’s it.”

“Look at my children, I  haven’t seen them so happy for so long…” – says mom Natia. Natia, whose story made the most persistent hearts tremble.

A single mother of two, who suffers epilepsy. A victim of domestic violence, tired, exhausted, who struggled with all her strength for the lives of her children, like a wounded animal… Thanks God, we got there in time!!! Right on time! If we were a little late, the children could have become orphans… But you, our dear friends, the most caring people in the world, managed to demonstrate the power of compassion and love for your neighbor!

“How can I thank you? – Natia keeps worrying. – What should I say, what should I do? I would bake delicious pancakes for all of you! Maybe this time will come too? One thing I can do right now is thank each of you a lot and pray for you.”

Gio’s eyes shined when he opened all the gifts.

  – Natia, just recently the entire Georgia learned about your trouble and tried to help you with joint efforts of people. What happened during this time, what has changed?

Natia: I have always wondered who needs us – me and my children? What have I seen in my life besides violence and humiliation? But I won’t think that anymore. I saw so much care and kindness from you, so much attention. This is the first time that something has changed in the life of our family. For the first time we had such a great joy.

You gave us the best washing machine. At last, the children’s clothes will be clean… And now we have a new refrigerator: look how big and beautiful it is! The children are so happy, I was also distracted, I don’t constantly think about my ailments. For the first time in my life, someone asked me about my health, showed concern. We missed all this so much! We missed attention, warmth, love, this little bit of happiness… And you gave it to us!

Gio: “I know there must be food here. Since they gave us this thing, then we will have food as well?”

  – Your words of gratitude will surely reach the hearts of our readers – the most caring and compassionate! What turned out to be the most memorable for you?

Natia: This is the day when they brought gifts to us. The children were in seventh heaven! They shouted with joy, did not calm down! I understand this: they are not used to such things. We lived alone with our problems, and suddenly we got such attention! I am grateful to all the friends of the Fund who took our misfortune so close to their hearts that they decided to give joy to my poor children too, to warm them with care and attention.

Gio keeps track of cookies so they don’t get eaten up quickly

  – Natia, what about the local authorities? How did they react to our post?

Natia: It worked! As soon as the post was published, we received one-time help from the local administration of the city of Kaspi. They brought us foodstuffs: pasta, sugar, butter, flour. It’s a pity that it ended soon. But thanks for that. There is a minimum allowance of 290 GEL. I hold on to this too, what else to do?

– Natia, we are so happy that after so many disappointments you used to have, you have back your faith in people and faith in selfless help.Tell me about your emotions!

Natia: There is no more resentment and despair in my heart. You gave me spirit, made me believe that everything can still work out. That this is not the end of life, and there is not only pain, hunger and poverty ahead! That we can have something good too. Even for a sick woman like me, it can be a holiday.

God is merciful and helps by sending us good people. I do not know what would have happened to us further without your help. I read a lot about your Fund, about how much good you have done to people, and I asked myself the question: “Maybe we will be so lucky too?” We also deserve a little bit of happiness?! I really hoped for the help of caring people, and my expectations came true! You asked me about my emotions? It was joy! And happiness! I cried like a little girl… To be honest, I cry all the time, but for the first time in these years – I cried with joy, I cried because my heart got free.

I want to say thank you to everyone who showed generosity and helped us! I admire your mercy! I pray to God that I too will someday have the opportunity to help my neighbor. I swear I’ll share even my single piece of bread with them!

Gio is confused by the count. He can only count to 10, and there are so many cookies in the box. Bella came to help him: “First, let’s eat the cookies with jam, and hide the rest of the boxes.”

  – Bella is mommy’s daughter. She is always by you and one can notice that she is very worried about you.  Bella, what about you, dear? Which gift did you like the most? What are you dreaming about?

Bella (10 years old): The washing machine is very cool! Mom can’t stand for a long time and wash with her hands. I used to be afraid that she might feel bad while doing laundry, and something terrible would happen. She’s still weak. (Hugs her mom.)I will do the laundry myself. I just need someone to show me where to push and what to do. Do you want me to load the wash today, Mom?

(Natia kisses her daughter, smiles.)

Well, a dream… I just want to have a delicious meal. Can this be considered a dream?!

– Bella, honey, we promise you will have a delicious hot lunch! But maybe you want something else as a gift besides food?

Bella: Oh, I have to think … But better bring me food, please. Maybe a sausage? I tried it once and really liked the taste. I would also like another jacket – warm, this one is not warm, and it is so dirty and ugly…
And the warm boots too, so that they don’t pinch my toes. I grew out of my old ones, and it hurts to walk. But I want sausages most of all, and sweets too! We do not immediately eat those sweets that you gave us. But they will end anyway. And they are so delicious!

– Accepted. We will pass on all your dreams to kind people!  Gio, how are you?

Giorgi (5-year-old): Mom says we’re doing well. Do you know how many cookies I have? But I didn’t find the toys when the gifts arrived.

– How do you play then?

Giorgi: I don’t know – whatever I’ll find on the floor, that’s what I play.

Bella: Can I answer instead of him? Gio has no toys at all. And I know for sure that he dreams of cars!

– You are a good girl, you worry about your mother, about your brother. Thanks for telling me what to give Gio! We still have to ask Mom something. Natia, are there any problems left which we could help you to solve?

Natia:Oh, it seems that the problems in my life will never come to end… I am grateful to you for everything. But, if you will manage to help us again, it would be a real New Year’s gift! Most importantly, we really need foodstuffs. Anything – bread, meat, some sweets for children… I can’t look at Gio and Bella starving. It is so difficult to put them to sleep when their stomach is empty – they cry and are fussy. And also, my medications… But I don’t remember exactly which ones, I forgot, everything flies out of my head. I need to find out. It will be good to see a doctor, because the pain is getting stronger, the attacks happen more frequently, but I don’t get any treatment. I’m worrying for my children, what will happen to them without me?!  You can see for yourself that it is hard to find conditions that are worse than ours. Man would not even put an animal in this shed, but somehow we still exist here. We will be grateful for everything – both clothes and beds… And a good word! Please help us if you can!
