It is very painful to get hit in the head and not to lose heart. But Ioseb has been enduring that for 12 years now. “It’s a such game,” the neighbor boys say. When everyone is in team at the stadium, and they tell him: “Go away, lousy! Go away!” It is also a game. You have to understand. Everyone here – the teachers, fellow villagers, and their children – understands that this is how they play with Ioseb.

But his sister Natia (14 years old) does not understand such jokes or games either. They tell her: “What are you looking at, you silly one?!” They push her, they don’t sit next to her in the classroom. And she gets upset and cries. They “praise” her clothes. “So creepy! Miss second-hand!” She doesn’t want to go to school, she’s afraid of making friends with anyone.

People who “understand” this sort of games, have you ever though that such games make the whole family feel like pariahs?!

“We are like outcasts in our village,” sighs Maya Vardishvili, the mother of Ioseb and Natia. – At first, because of our need and problems, they did not want to communicate with us, but now they also mock and humiliate us… My husband and I are sick. If something happens, no one will call an ambulance for us. We really need help, but we locked ourselves, since no one wants us.”

This is not true, is it? Good friends, please respond!

Maya: Yesterday Natia helped our neighbor in her the garden – she pulled weeds and took away grass, and the neighbor brought us food. The children do their best to make sure we have some food. My husband also takes part-time jobs – the bank takes our social allowance.

Ioseb (12-year-old): And I learned to sew! Here are a few bags I have sewn, and I want to sell them to buy bread.

– How do you sew them? Where did you learn to sew?

Ioseb: I looked on YouTube, and then took everything that was old and torn – and we have a lot of such clothes, they give us rags… So, I took some jeans, one hat, and made a bag out of that. I want to sell it for 2 lari. Do you think this is a lot?

– I think this is very little! Can you sew bags to order?

Ioseb: Well, I want to become a journalist. I’ll be good at it, I know. I wrote you about my family. Mom said that there was no need to bother you. I wrote to many people, but no one responded. Mom says that nobody is interested in us. Are you interested?

– Of course, I came here to tell the story of your family to all the friends of the Fund. What would you tell about your family if you were a journalist?

Ioseb: Hello dear readers! Now I will tell you a story about a very poor, but very good family. They live very hard! Look, their house is about to collapse. And they don’t have normal beds! And they have no food! They’re very kind. But mom is sick – she has high blood sugar, and dad is sick – he has a sick heart. And the sister is sick: she speaks hardly and often cries. And the journalist Ioseb is sick.

– What is wrong with Ioseb?

Ioseb: He, well, I, sometimes have fears. I cannot sleep at night. But that’s okay. The main thing are my mom and my sister!

– Ioseb, you are so good! I think you will become an excellent journalist.

Ioseb: I need a phone for this! This is my dream. So I will manage to record stories about our village, about people and their life. Who needs what… Do you know how interesting it will be? Problems of people through Ioseb’s eyes! It will be a good show.

Maya: Oh, he’s so smart! The only problem is that we live like outcasts. Ioseb has got strong character, he does not pay attention to ridicule, he says, those who laugh are fools. He knows that he will succeed. He even learned to sew, my boy! He says he will sell bags or exchange them for bread.

– Natia, could you please tell us about yourself too? What do you like doing, what is your dream?

Natia (14-year-old): I… I don’t like going to school. They are angry, they laugh at me. I like to be at home, I like TV, but we don’t have it. Sorry, I talk slowly. I can’t talk fast. And I dream of becoming a stylist. I cut my mom and brother’s hair. I’m smart, but I forget to talk.

(Tears rolled down from Natia’s eyes… These tears burned my soul.)

– Maya, what are your main problems? What do you need the most?

Maya: We need building materials to somehow improve the condition of this room. Our house is about to collapse.

We need beds, TV is my daughter’s cherished dream, and my son just dreams of a phone so that he can film his journalistic videos. Well, we also need food. But you know, even the fact that you came and talked to us, asked how we are, is already worth a lot! You know Ioseb has already asked so many people for help. And he always believed that someone would hear him! You just didn’t allow his hope to die!

***

Friends, this wonderful family really needs our support. Being poor does not mean that you have to be an outcast, and no one should communicate with you. Financial difficulties and unsettled life are not a reason for ridicule. Actually, no one is immune from such a fate. We must lend a helping hand to them now. We mustn’t leave them alone with their problems! That is why they addressed us. They believe they have us!

At the moment, Maya Vardishvili’s family needs food, hygiene products, beds, a TV and a telephone.

You can visit them in person and provide them help. Their address is: Dusheti Municipality, village Mlashe.

Please repost our publication. Let your friends know about the grief of this family! It’s extremely important!

God gives us chances to take care about people who are unable to take care of themselves. Do not pass by someone else’s trouble! Those poor people are sent to us by heaven so that we could prove not by words, but in deeds that we trust in God!

Friends, there is one more request – if you know about the misfortune of a neighbor or friend do a godly deed, drop us an email at: office-fsp@fsp.ge.
