Breast milk is for one baby…And for another,
just the bitter tears of his poor mother…!
REPOST, MY GOOD MAN! LET YOUR FRIENDS ALSO PARTICIPATE IN THE WORK OF MERCY!
“Our bread is the tastiest. It is harder to bite it today, yesterday it was softer.”
This is not a staged photo. We did not ask the children to sit on the floor and eat bread. When we came for the interview, two-year-old Mariam and eight-year-old Giorgi were sitting in the corner like mice, clutching a loaf with their fingers and nibbling it… Can you imagine that sometimes there is not enough money even for bread! We will simply keep silent about other foodstuffs. You can calculate yourself: social allowance is 320 GEL, and mother pays 170 GEL out of that for renting a room. The remaining 150 GEL should be enough for life! Will, it’s enough … for their daily bread. And to refuel a small gas bottle. It is their gas stove, their heater, and even their bath.
I have nothing of my own except the children and this gas bottle. If it goes out of order, I’d never get over it! ” – Shorena tried to joke, but these words wouldn’t leave me in peace for several days. Children and a gas bottle – this is what a Georgian woman deserves for being a single mother in Georgia!
Shorena: Oh, it’s so embarrassing. They’re just really hungry. There is no transport, so I cannot bring food from the canteen. It takes more than two hours to get there. They tried to get there walking, I carried Mariam in my arms and held Giorgi by the hand but could not get there. We got very tired. That’s why the only thing we can afford now is bread. I buy the cheapest one.
– What do you take in the canteen?
Shorena: Well, there, all kinds of soups, once a week they also give us meat. Sometimes they have sausages. My children are fond of sausages. Today I cooked the last pasta we had – it was about a handful. They come up and peck like birds.
It’s good that we have food for the entire day! At least something… Pasta is the royal food! You can break your teeth against stale bread!
Pasta is their favorite treat after bread
– Shorena, how do you manage to survive?
Shorena: In no way… Sometimes it seems to me that I have already died. Imagine, I have nothing to sell to be sure that if something suddenly happens, then my children will have food. The only valuable thing in my house is a small gas bottle. I cook on it, and warm water for bathing, and sometimes we warm ourselves. When gas ends and there is no money to refuel it, then real hopelessness sets in… I count the days until the payday.
– Have you ever lived without fear of tomorrow?
Shorena: Probably when I was a child. It was all over after I gave birth to Giorgi, I remember my childhood well, but what will my children say? What will they remember? The toys that Mom brought them from the junkyard? Or the tattered clothes that make them constantly get bullied? They don’t know how to communicate with people – they are afraid of them.
– What would you like to do for them?
Shorena: Gio’s birthday was on September 8th. He turned eight years old. I wanted so much to somehow brighten up this day, but I did not manage to. I even thought about not telling him about his birthday that day. I cried, I imagined how we celebrate this day in the celebration center, how his favorite cartoon characters congratulate him. How they bring the cake, how he blows out the candles, and then runs up to me and says: “You are the best mom, thank you!” This is all I dream about.
– When is Mariam’s birthday?
Shorena: She is a winter girl: she will turn three on January 30. Oh, I’ll tell you one thing now, only you get it right. I don’t even know, maybe I don’t need to talk about it. I still feed Marie with breast milk when she is crying from hunger. I have no other way out.
(Shorena burst into tears … And we kept silent for a long time. No words can ease that heartache of a mother who sees her starving children, the ones she loves more than life and for whose life she is responsible.)
– Shorena, I can only say one thing: You’ve done a great job by contacting the Chernovetskyi Fund. Now your life will change. Do you believe this?
Shorena: To be honest, I don’t know what to believe in anymore. When the children’s father doesn’t need his own children, how can I ask complete strangers to take a piece of bread from their children and give it to mine?! But I have no other choice. I am on my knees in front of everyone and I beg you – save my children!
– What else do you need besides food?
Shorena: Diapers, clothes for children. But the first priority are foodstuffs.
– Have you got any home appliances?
Shorena: I have a gas bottle.
– Shorena, it does not belong to appliances! I’m asking about a washing machine, refrigerator, gas stove…
Shorena: I don’t have a washing machine, I have a refrigerator, but it belongs to my landlord, and, frankly, I have nothing to put there. Let’s go and I’ll show you! But why are you asking? Can you get me a washing machine?
Children open the refrigerator door a hundred times a day, hoping to find at least something in it.
– Shorena, the kindest people in Georgia read the posts of our Fund. They will also learn about your family. Do you think they will leave you to the mercy of fate? No!
Shorena: I have seen many happy faces on your Facebook page, but I don’t think I deserve such joy… God bless you!

Unfortunately,
I did not manage to talk to the kids. They said only two words, and then
through their mother. Mari whispered to her mother that she wanted a doll and
toy kitchen set, and Giorgi wants a car. That’s it, at this point, all their
childhood wishes have reached the limits.
Fear is what fills the
life of mom, little Mari and Giorgi. She tries to surpass her capabilities…
But alas, it doesn’t always help. Where to get money? What to do? There is only
one hope left – to ask people and hope for their help.
Friends, do not pass
by this post and please help these unfortunate, hungry children. They need
food, diapers, washing machine, gas stove and clothes. You can meet them personally.
Their address is: Zages, st. 40 Niko
Ketskhoveli.
Every time you can
help someone, just do it and rejoice that God answers someone’s prayers through
you!
Let’s show our mercy
and make the children believe that miracles happen! They believe in us. Do not
let our little compatriots down. Show them what generous people live in Georgia!
We are sure that all
together we will manage to change their life.
Please don’t forget to repost our story.
Let your friends know about the grief of this family! It’s extremely important!

REPOST RIGHT AWAY, MY GOOD MAN! HELP YOUR FRIENDS TO GET CLOSER TO THE WORK OF MERCY!
Shorena is happy, immensely happy! Her children no longer hold their stomachs from hunger and no longer tell her that this piece of bread, though very tasty, is not enough, and they want more!
A song about how sweets fell from the sky instead of snow, Mariam learned in kindergarten, and according to her, it came true …
Now three-year-old Mariam sleeps peacefully with Peppa Pig and no longer cries at night. Eight-year-old Giorgi can attend classes remotely and keep up with his studies. He already has both a tablet and a personal computer.
And there is no more need for Shorena to stand for hours in the yard by the tap, washing in cold water and then getting sick for weeks…
“I can’t wait to turn it on…”
“For the last few months, I live like in a fairy tale. Someone who has never experienced such a need like I did will laugh and say that it’s far from being a fairy tale… But for me, it really feels like a fairy tale! Children who eat their fill, home appliances and the hope of obtaining housing – I didn’t even dare to dream about it! I addressed you and suddenly, everything changed… Like in a fairy tale when a kind wizard appears… “
Shorena Davitaia is a 36-year-old single mother. She lives in a rented apartment with her wonderful son and daughter. Shorena saw nothing in her life but poverty and hunger…
We published a post about Davitai’s family on September 28, 2021. See the link:

– Shorena, what is the reason for your happiness?
Shorena: The reason for my happiness is the invaluable support and kindness shown to my family by complete strangers. Your Fund did a lot… I don’t know how to tell you… It was probably the most valuable gift I have ever received. As soon as the post was published, people started calling me, coming to visit us. We received a lot of gifts, foodstuffs. So many people have taken care of us, so many people have responded… It’s impossible to list them all! You know, I just believed that the kindest people live in Georgia!
– Shorena, you probably made a lot of friends, who do you remember the most?
Shorena: I remember everyone who at least just called me and consoled me. Maybe I won’t remember their names because some of them didn’t even introduce themselves, but I will never forget their faces and voices! I am happy that with your help, I once again have the opportunity to thank these people. First of all, many thanks to your subscribers, and to your Fund. I wish that you will always exist as a hope for many people in need like me. Thank you for the gifts that have changed my extremely difficult life for the better. Thanks to Mrs. Pikria, Mrs. Iamze, who took care of food and hygiene products for my children. Thanks to Maka and Achiko – a wonderful couple. They have helped us many times and continue to communicate with us. Thanks to Mrs. Nino from Mtskheta, Mr. Soso Gagnidze, Tengiz Ruadze, Nato Gelashvili. They provided us with many necessary things. Thanks to an unknown girl from Vake, to residents of Saburtalo who united to help us and sent us a lot of groceries. Thanks to the “Support” Fund, the St. Nazar Lezhava Foundation, who care so much about those in need. Thanks to Baya Dvalishvili for coming to visit us, for her love and warmth. It is impossible not to mention two young students who came to us together with their classmates and brought us a lot of food and toys. Here is such a wonderful youth in Georgia now, and it makes me very happy! Peppa Pig (soft toy), which they gave, has become an inseparable friend of my Mariam – she sleeps and goes to kindergarten with it. Peppa Pig and Mariam share sweets equally, don’t they, Mariam? (She turns to her daughter with a smile.)
Mariam: Peppa Pig is more of a glutton than me…
Giorgi: And Mariam is no less of a glutton – when she saw so many sweets, she took the biggest and most delicious ones for herself…
– There were a lot of sweets, did you get them too, Gio?
Giorgi: Yes, there were so many… It was impossible to count… I was very happy. I was happy all the time. I wanted to immediately eat everything that I had not tried before, but my mother said that if you eat too many sweets, your stomach will hurt. Then, I treated my friend for the first time.
“Sweets, I would eat you all if my mother allowed me!”
– Why for the first time?
Giorgi: I had nothing until then, how would I treat him?! And now, when they brought them to me, I immediately thought about my friend … He always shared sweets with me.
– Giorgi, what other gifts made you happy?
Giorgi: I have never had a TV, a computer, or a tablet… Now I have it all! Mom said that the Fund brought us a TV and a tablet.
“Very cool, exactly what I wanted!”
Giorgi and Mariam watch children’s programs with great interest.
– Do you know what the “Fund” is?
Giorgi: Probably the place where a lot of good people work! (Smiling slyly at me, he continues to list.) Aunt Maka gave us the computer. I’m happy to heaven. I couldn’t attend online school lessons… And now I watch cartoons and attend classes…
– Do you like studying?
Giorgi: Yes! Most of all, I like the lesson “Me and Society”, we learn so many interesting things …
– What will you be when you grow up?
Giorgi: Lawyer.
– Do you know what lawyers do?
Giorgi: Yes, I learned that! They keep order, laws, catch criminals, do a lot of good things.
– Mariam, what are you most happy about?
Mariam: Toy Peppa Pig. And a doll with a stroller…
Giorgi: Yes, I forgot to say – I was also very happy with the car with the remote control…
Shorena: I never had the opportunity to buy them toys. My God! What kind of toys could we talk about when we had no money for food?! My children had only toys found in the street, those that other children threw away – broken cars, shabby dolls …
– Shorena. Which gift made you happy the most?
Shorena: A washing machine, a gas stove, a refrigerator, and the happy eyes of my children, because you gave them to me!
“I can’t believe that from today, I will no longer cook on an old, rusty cylinder …”
– Did the local authorities respond?
Shorena: Yes. After this post, they called us and told us to find an apartment, which they would buy for us and provide us with housing. We are on the list of “homeless”, and soon we will have our own home. I can’t believe all this is happening to me.
– Shorena, I want us to have a reason to congratulate you on getting your own housing as soon as possible.
Shorena: It is so unbearable to live in a rented apartment. A month flies by very quickly… You don’t have time to take a breath, from payment to payment. It’s impossible to even survive on the meager allowance that the social service pays us, and I’m not talking about paying rent. This is a miracle, and I still wonder how we endured until this day, how did we survive? When we called you, our situation was really desperate! Starving children did not even let me talk on the phone. Honestly, I did not expect such a response and such support …
– We did our best to give you and your children some beautiful days. But your problems don’t end there…
Shorena: There will be no end to the problems as long as our only stable income is social allowance. I can’t work because I have little children. Although, nowadays, it is not so easy to find a job… And you always need food, clothes, household items. Thanks to Mariam – she stopped using diapers… (Smiles.) This is a big relief. Before we got your gifts, we had nothing of our own, except for one rusty gas cylinder, which I could not always fill … Look at the things, furniture and utensils that we use. You will only see this at a garbage dump.
Friends, the troubles of this family did not end there… They again need our support, again they need food, utensils, hygiene products. Do we want the sparks of happiness to always burn in the eyes of Mariam and Giorgi? Then don’t be lazy, let’s visit the family, or donate a small amount of money from our savings! May these little ones have many more beautiful days!
