“I know what outcome awaits my son, but I can’t come to terms with this. I can’t just sit back and watch my son die!” – These harrowing words of the young mother Nestan break your heart. Six months ago, she lost her daughter, who suffered from convulsions and melted before her eyes. Since 2019, the unfortunate Nestan has been in hospitals – either at the door of the intensive care unit, or in the ward.
I can’t just sit idly by and watch my son die! Help save my only child!

Our story about baby Sesili (https://chernovetskyifund.ge/en/projects/finished/439-bolkvadze/description/#content) got a huge response throughout entire Georgia. Together we supported the little Angel in the last years of her life, did our best to alleviate the suffering of the little girl and her unfortunate parents. When the second – healthy child – was born in the Bolkvadze family, our joy knew no bounds.
“I’ll give you my life, son”
But the happiness of the family did not last long! When Gabriel was six months old, he had his first epileptic attack! Oh, how scary it was! How terrible it was! “Not that, please!” Nestan fell on her knees in front of the icons and begged God to save her boy from the fate of his sister!
– Nestan, please accept my condolences on behalf of all the employees of the Fund and the entire Georgia! The martyr Sesili is now with God, like an angel.
Nestan: Thank you for everything you have done for my martyr! I will never forget it! That’s why I addressed you again! I’m going through the same hell for the second time! Why are my unfortunate kids being punished like this?
“On the verge of life and death … breathe baby, don’t hurt mom”
– When you found out about your pregnancy, could you imagine that the disease could affect your second child?
Nestan: I didn’t even think about it! I was happy! My husband was happy! We thought God would give us such happiness for our suffering. My pregnancy and childbirth went well. First days, first months…
– When did you notice the first signs of the disease?
Nestan: Gabriel was born on September 7th. He had his first seizures in February. My God! What a nightmare it was! We immediately called an ambulance, and they took us to the hospital. There they made all the tests and said they needed to monitor the baby to see how often the attacks will recur. When the seizures became chronic, he was diagnosed with epilepsy. He was put on medication, but the drugs didn’t make Gabriel feel better. His condition kept getting worse. We borrowed money and took our son to Turkey. We stayed there for 3 months. There they diagnosed him with hydrocephalus, prescribed medications and a miracle happened! Gabriel started feeling better, he even began to make some sounds, he called me mother… my happiness knew no bounds. But when we came back, a real test awaited me …
“He doesn’t even have the strength to cry … he moans like a kitten”
– Are you talking about Sesilia?
Nestan: Yes! Her condition was critical, the doctors began to prepare me for the worst. On May 5th my daughter left us. She died, stopped breathing. She took my heart and soul away. But I couldn’t even mourn her properly. All my attention was on Gabriel. On May 26, Gabriel started having such severe seizures that even the most potent drugs could not help him. He was in a coma for 3 months. Fluid collected in his head. We were advised not to do the operation, they said that he would not survive.
“You are the last straw that keeps me on the earth – my Gabriel”
– Now you are already in the ward, when are you supposed to be discharged?
Nestan: Thanks to the help of God, the prayers of the good Georgians, and the efforts of the doctors, my son woke up. Since May 26th we have been living in the hospital. He was in a coma for 3 months, he was in intensive care unit, they fed him through a tube. Now he was transferred to the ward, but his condition is unstable, seizures may resume at any moment. Therefore, for now, there can be no question of letting us go home.
– You probably need a lot of medications, how are you coping?
Nestan: True! Our income is Gabriel’s pension – 275 GEL and allowance – 150 GEL. There is enough for diapers and medications, but not for food. That is why I addressed you again for help. You helped me a lot with Sesilia, and I’m sure you’ll help me with Gabriel as well. Can I say a few words to all mothers who are fighting for the lives of their children?
– Of course, your words will support them!
Nestan: I am 34 years old, and I recently lost my beautiful daughter Sesilia, who was sick almost from birth. Together with entire Georgia we fought for her life, experienced many terrible days, but I did not give up, did not lose heart, and always thanked God for every moment spent with my daughter. Moms! Be strong, fight for your children! They need us, only we can cope with all the difficulties own children face! That’s it! Be healthy and take care of yourself!

All words disappeared somewhere… all experiences became so insignificant… all anxieties lost their meaning. This is real grief, this is real tragedy. Mom lost her little daughter and now her son is dying from the same disease! People! They need our support! The only thing Nestan needs is diapers, special food for the baby and medications!
We will send Nestan’s phone number to anyone who is interested.
Every time you can help someone, just do it and rejoice that God answers someone’s prayers through you!
We are sure that all together we will manage to save them from imminent death.
