How to live on the fifth floor without an elevator if you are a wheelchair user? Seriously ill Levan found himself literally trapped in his own home. For several years now, in order to go outside, a guy has been crawling down on his knees from the fifth floor, and then crawling up the same way.
This is the result of his crawling: bleeding knees, terrible bruises and unbearable pain
Levan (31 years old): “I can’t bear this anymore! I’m tired of sitting in a wheelchair, I’m tired of lying down all the time. I’m asking everyone: help me raise money for the operation. I can’t wait for my suffering to end and for me to start walking on my own. Before, I could at least go outside. Or rather, crawl out. Now, because of the wounds on my knees, I’m trapped within four walls.”
As the family did not have the money to visit a doctor in time, blood poisoning and inflammation developed as a result. Levan has a high temperature and fever. He does not get out of bed and cannot move. The family bought expensive injections, medicines and ointments with Levan’s disability pension. And now they are left without a livelihood until the next pension.
For 30 years, his mother has heroically carried her son in her arms. Levan has no one else except her. His father died early, and there is no one to expect help from.
Stepping on his foot is very painful, to the point of loss of consciousness!
Until the age of two, Levan grew up as a healthy boy, until an accident occurred. The family lived very poorly and cramped. Levan fell out of bed, hit a bucket of boiling water, and was scalded. The boy was taken to a burn center, where he was literally pieced back together. His tendons were damaged, he stopped walking. Since then, he has been confined to a wheelchair.
Tamar (Levan’s mother): “When Turkish doctors saw the video of Levan crawling up the stairs filmed by the Chernovetsky Fund staff, they said there was a good chance he would be able to walk!”

“My heart is breaking with pain! I watch Levan suffer every day, but I can’t help my boy! Turkish doctors say that Levan can be put back on his feet. This poor young man suffered so much that at times he wished for death over life.
To leave his apartment building and reach the street, he had to crawl down the stairs – until his legs were covered in blood. Then came blood poisoning.
His poor mother pushed him around in a broken wheelchair.
Levan: “When I turned to the Chernovetskyi Fund, I had no hope for such an expensive surgery. Later, after my story was published, someone from the Fund called me and said they had good news. And indeed – skilled doctors performed a very complex five-hour surgery on our handsome Georgian young man.
For the first time in his life, Levan has a chance to stand on his own two feet, to work, to start a family – and most importantly, to become a father. All of this became possible only thanks to you, our dear and loyal friends!
Tamar: “No words can describe what I feel in my heart right now. I will pray for the rest of my life for everyone who helped my Levan, even just a little.”
The joyful mother even wrote a heartfelt letter of gratitude.
