The bitterest tears in the world flow from the eyes of children who have lost their parents. The best father in Georgia has passed away.

Nutsa, 8 years old: “Our daddy died… He used to call us his ‘beauties’ and ‘princesses,’ and he often played dolls and hide-and-seek with us. It was so much fun! He always said he loved us more than anything in the world. We miss him so much…”

This is the last picture of the girls with their father. The poor man suffered from epilepsy.  The children saw with their own eyes how he had seizures… 

Nutsa, 8 years old: “When I see other dads hugging their kids and taking them to school, my heart hurts. It’s so sad without our daddy. Now my classmates make fun of me because I’m an orphan. One boy even said to me, ‘You’re lucky you don’t have a dad.’ It hurt so much that I cried for a whole week and didn’t go to school—until Mom told me that not all fathers are good, and some even hit their children. Maybe, auntie, that boy has a dad like that… Can you find out? It still hurts so much.”

Friends, little Nini, Nani, and Nutsa have no one but us. Let’s fulfill their late father’s mission – to care for his daughters as if they were our own!

Corr. “What did you have for breakfast today?” 

Nani, 10 years old: “A little bit of pasta. Mom, my sisters, and I shared it equally.” 

orr. “And what did you eat yesterday?” 

Nani, 10 years old: “Yesterday, just plain tea. Sometimes we don’t have any food at home, and we go hungry.” 

Nani, 10 years old: “Auntie, Mom can’t afford to buy us new clothes or shoes.  All summer I saved money, and when I finally broke my piggy bank, I bought sneakers for school.” ”

Their mother, Dariko, 42, suffers from diabetes. Dear reader, you probably know how cruel this disease is – it kills a person slowly. Diabetes requires a special diet, but she can’t afford to buy any special food for herself. This heroic mother sacrifices her own health so that her daughters have something to eat.  God forbid that she leaves this world too – just like their father did. 

Dariko, 42 (mother): “My children are like little guardian angels. They help me with everything — washing dishes, cleaning the house. If something happens to me, they’ll be left alone in this cruel world. I wouldn’t wish that even on an enemy.” 

Nani, 10 years old: “The roof is leaking, and when it rains, it pours inside like we’re outdoors. We put out buckets.”

Nutsa, 8 years old: “We don’t even have a wardrobe or dresser for our clothes. Mom keeps our things in bags on the floor.”

The orphaned children sleep on broken beds and can’t even turn from side to side, because the bed might collapse. 

Dariko, 42 (mother): “The most important thing for me is that my children don’t go hungry. Right now we really need food. Our neighbors – God bless them – sometimes bring us flour or sugar. I feel ashamed to accept it. I’ve never asked anyone for anything. I’m not asking for myself, but for my children. Please help me feed them and make our home livable.” 

God, how can we bear the pain in these children’s eyes? Just one picture is enough to feel the endless sorrow in the tiny heart of an orphaned child. And you – yes, you who are reading this –
remember that you are the only hope for this little angel. Open your heart to “strangers,” to orphaned children, and the Holy Mother will forever protect your own children.
