In five years, she took so many pills that one could have made a small house out of them! For the amount spent for them, little Lizi could have fulfilled all her cherished dreams. The pills she takes are inexpensive – only 10 tetri per pill! But she needs 12 pills a day!

She is still quite little to understand what is wrong with her. It will be difficult even for an adult to come to terms with being treated like a patient when nothing bothers you.

“Don’t run, don’t jump… You can’t eat this, you can’t do that, don’t eat this, don’t do that… And can I take a thousand pills a day?” – Lizi tells us with displeasure. – “Tell me, what’s wrong with me? Why can’t I do anything that all other girls can? I can’t even be a princess: they are slim, but I am not.”

She is seven years old, five of which she is being treated, and she does not know what she is treated for. But she remembers that if she doesn’t take the pills, she will feel bad. She knows that she cannot drink a lot of water, because then she becomes like a balloon! She knows she shouldn’t sweat.

Her disease was discovered by accident. When she was two years old, she injured her arm, and her mom took her to a doctor. The doctor did not like that the girl had circles under her eyes, and after examining her, he advised to do tests. And unfortunately, the tests showed an unacceptable amount of protein in her body. It was 10 times higher than the norm. So they had to sound the alarm.

– Tsira, could you please tell us what wrong with Lizi?

Tsira: My poor daughter prays to God that someday she will be able to run and play like other children do. You know, it turned out that she was born with a severe disease, and we didn’t even know about it. If she had not injured her hand when she was two, she would probably have died in our arms, and we would never have learned the reason.

– What do you mean? Does not she have any signs of illness?

Tsira: If you are not a professional, you will not guess. Look at her, how can one say that she is sick? Some people may say that she is a chubby girl, who probably loves sweets. And my poor daughter gained weight because of taking hormonal drugs! For five years she has taken more than 20,000 pills! Can you imagine that?

– What’s wrong with her? Is it curable? What do the doctors say?

Tsira: Lizi suffers of nephrotic syndrome. In simple words – her blood protein level is below norm! She swells, and if she does not take medications, she may simply suffocate. We even took her to Turkey, thinking maybe our doctors were wrong because she looked fine. She had no pain, she had no fever, and she felt very well. But it turns out that this insidious disease destroys her little organs! God has mercy on us – she develops well. She’s a very smart girl!

Lizi: I’m so smart that I even go to school. And I draw very well. But I still don’t understand why everyone is so busy with me… Lizi, don’t run, Lizi, don’t worry… We will do it for you… Do you know what my greatest desire is? I really want a tablet. There are games about princesses where you dress them up. That would be cool!

– What else would you look at on a tablet?

Lizi: First of all, I would watch all the videos about beautiful princesses. Then I would call my friend and we would chat with her! I miss her very much! But I don’t have a computer and I don’t think I will ever have it! I know we cannot buy it.

– Tsira, what your family lives on?

Tsira: Our only income is the pension of my husband’s parents – they help us a lot, and social allowance. I cannot work, I need to take care of children. My husband is a hard worker, but he was left without job because of the pandemic. Well, even before the pandemic, it was not easy to find job in the village, and he cannot go to work somewhere and leave us. Lizi can get worse at any time, and I can’t cope alone.

– What do you need the most?

Tsira: It is obligatory for Lizi to monitor her protein level monthly, and also to consult a doctor, to have an ultrasound scan and other examinations. Do you know how expensive it is? This is just an unbearable amount for us. Leave alone home appliances – ones we have at home are old, but they all still work. We don’t have a gas stove – it would be great to have it. Our neighbors and friends help us with foodstuffs. I thank God that the pills that Lizi takes are not expensive, otherwise I would have to beg for alms. But one will do anything for the sake of the child.

– Tsira, has your family always been living in poverty?

Tsira: No, we lived as anyone else. We did not live in poverty. My husband worked… And now everything went wrong. Our parents are also old, they live on pension, but they still manage to support us. May God grant them health! Our house is old, it has not been renovated for a long time. But who cares? If only our child gets well!

– Tsira, almost the whole Georgia will learn this story about your wonderful daughter Lizi. You can address our readers!

Tsira: Well, I don’t even know what to say. In the current situation, everyone thinks about themselves, about their family. But I ask about one thing, I ask each of you to support us – to share this information so that as many people as possible know about Lizi. I am sure, there will be wizards among them! I believe in that! Lizi believes in that.

Lizi: Yes, the main thing is to believe! So, I believe that I will soon be able to play like other children do! I just need a little help! I have a lot of friends, and everyone loves me, and I love them!

Tsira: It would be great if we could do a full examination and treatment.

***

Friends, Lizi believes in God, and God believes in you! Together we can work miracles. The main thing is that there are many of us, and we also believed in a miracle!

And here’s our answer to Lizi’s main question: “Do you believe that I can become a girl like anyone else?” – “Of course, you can, honey! We believe in that!”

You can visit them and help them personally. Here is their address: Lanchkhuti municipality, Guliani village (Chochkhati).

We should not remain indifferent to the troubles of this family, we will show our mercy and care, all together we will help them however we can, showing them all our love and mercy! Unfortunately, no one is immune to loneliness and sickness.

Please repost our publication, so that as many people as possible learn about the troubles of little Lizi!

Lord, my daughter smiles! You gave her a carefree laugh!

REPOST RIGHT AWAY, MY GOOD MAN! HELP YOUR FRIENDS TO GET CLOSER TO THE WORK OF MERCY!

– Do you want me to show you the funniest prank? Pranks on TikTok are the coolest. Do you have TikTok? – Lizi keeps firing questions at me.

– Yes, I have.

– Watch from here. (Looks into my face and waits for my reaction.) It’s cool, right? (Laughs.) Would you do that? Do you shoot videos?

Her mom Tsira nods her head to me and smiles eloquently so as not to talk about Lizi in her presence. But one can see it without words: the child has changed a lot!

And only when Lizi picks up her new tablet and leaves, Tsira takes my hand and gives way to her feelings: “I am both happy and afraid of losing this fragile happiness. Lord, my child is smiling! I thought no one could do this. But you seem to have brought us out of the darkness where we have lived for years. We are learning to find joy in small things again.”

Poor Tsira has gone through a lot. Lizi has nephrotic syndrome, and she takes handfuls of pills to live. She can only eat… medications. Lizi cried all the time. We told you this sad story:

https://chernovetskyifund.ge/en/projects/finished/747-dzhidzheishvili/description/.

But everything can change, and it changes when you are there! Joy and hope have settled in this house, one can hear carefree children’s laughter here.

“Our life has gained meaning again,” – says Tsira. – “Well, Lizi’s illness has not gone anywhere, but I started appreciating every day spent with my child. Now I know for sure that God never gives anyone an unbearable burden… I got much braver now: You are by my side in this struggle for my child’s life!”

We helped Lizi forget about her illness, and she turned into an ordinary carefree girl

– Tsira, we recently shared the story of your misfortune with our readers. What happened since the Fund appeared in your life?

Tsira: We calmed down and let out a sigh of relief. Our mood is completely different now. I began to notice that now I cry less often; fears and heavy thoughts tormented me before. My children are calm, full, and happy. Liziko is so happy with the tablet. You have made her cherished dream come true! You gave us comfort, which we never knew and never experienced – a washing machine, refrigerator. I am a grown woman, and for the first time now I’m trying to understand how to handle everything. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Thanks to you, we have foodstuffs and medications for the next few days. This means that the health and life of my child is safe this week!

My husband and I were left completely alone in the face of disaster – Lizi’s illness. All these years I thought that no one except for my husband’s parents, who help us in any way they can, share their pension with us, cares about our problems. But now I feel a support of dozens of people! Your warm and hopeful words, your transfers, even of one lari, and your readiness to do something for us showed us that we are not alone in this world.

“I want to have a lot of meat and a little bit of candy in the fridge, although I can’t eat it. (Sighs.) At least once a month”

 – It is true – you are not alone! We are with you! What do you remember the most?

Tsira: Your project did what we did not manage to do: it helped Lizi to get distracted, to forget about her illness. She reluctantly feels that she is different, she needs to withstand many prohibitions. She’s a child – she wants to go out with her friends, eat all sorts of yummies. But my daughter must follow special diet – she cannot eat salty food at all. She takes pills all day long, she sometimes even reminds me that it’s time to take another pill. Our close attention also reminds her of her disease.

From the day my husband and I learned about our daughter’s illness, all our thoughts revolve around her. The rest seemed to lose any sense. I never thought it would be possible to cheer Lizi and distract her from the disease. She was very sad lately, sad, and lonely… But you managed to! The tablet put her back in the mood. Lord, I will never forget Lizi’s tears of joy! She screamed and jumped with joy! She suddenly became a carefree child. Thank you all for that!

“First, mom will understand how the washing machine works, and then I will.”

– Tsira, this was exactly our aim – to make Lizi happier! Did the local authorities somehow react to our post? Maybe they contacted you to help the child?

Tsira: What are you talking about? Unfortunately, that’s something unreal. We get allowance for two children – 100 GEL for each, but I was told recently that they will stop payments to the older child as soon as she turns 16. It means that in a couple of months the allowance will halve. Can you imagine that? If only we do not lose at least this allowance – I do not even hope for any extra help. This is how we live – anticipating something bad to happen all the time.

– Tsira, please, calm down!

Tsira: Okay. They don’t deserve my experiences. But your readers really helped us! They met all our expectations.Of course, I had moments of despair when fatigue and fear clouded my mind. It turns out, that it is very difficult to maintain faith in people when you have a sick hungry child in your arms. I thought maybe someone was throwing away food, which we dreamed of. I often asked myself: “Why? Why it happened to my Lizi?” And this pandemic deprived us of our main income source.  Until now, my husband cannot get a job. How can you expect help from someone in such a difficult time?

But in the most difficult moments, someone appears by us: either an old friend brings you warm clothes, or a neighbor makes soup for you. God never left me. But when you appeared in our life, all my doubts disappeared. God forgive me my despair! Here is your mercy – here are so many good and kind people around us.

I heard a lot about your good deeds. I believed, I felt that my daughter would not leave anyone indifferent! So, it happened. My happiness is boundless! I am immensely grateful to the Fund for such significant support! This is the first large-scale aid for so many years of hardship and dire need!

“I can also wash. Mommy says it’s not difficult”

 – Tsira, could I please talk to our smart girl Lizi?

Tsira: Sure! Liziko, dear, come!

– How are you doing, honey? Your tablet is so cool! Did you tell us about this the last time?

Lizi (7-year-old): Yes, it’s so cool, that’s exactly what I dreamed of! I use it to communicate with my friend. To find out the news. I switch on a camera and show her what I am doing. And she also shows me what she’s doing. Sometimes I even show my friend how I take my pills! At first, she used to get scared. “Please, enough, Lizi!” She even closed her eyes and then opened them one by one. (Smiles). But now she got used to it.

I also watch cartoons and some bloggers’ videos. When I go to bed, I want to wake up soon to switch on my tablet again. Thank you! You are even cooler than Santa!

First of all let’s see TikTok. What’s up there?

– Have you already made your wish to him?

Lizi: Not yet – I am still thinking. Can I rely on him? Is he planning to come at all, or it will happen like last year? He used to send me at least fruits, but now he completely disappeared. Shameless Santa! (Laughs) Well, okay, I’ll say out loud, what if it will come true? I would very much like to have beautiful clothes and shoes, as in the videos that I watch. I don’t know, do you think that he heard me right now?

– He hears everything perfectly. Calm down, he will come. It is his job – to make children happy. What videos do you watch? What is the most interesting to you?

Lizi: I love TikTok! Everyone is so cool there! They prank. And make beautiful things from plasticine. I really want to try it too… Well, all videos on TikTok are funny. Do you want me to show you?

I also watch my favorite cartoon – “Masha and the Bear”. The Bear is so cute! I always laugh a lot when they torture each other. (Laughs.) Sometimes my mommy plays all sorts of girly movies for me. What beautiful girls are there!

– You are the most beautiful girl, and you are very cute!

Lizi (smiles):They have a lot of toys, and I have no dolls at all. I would love to look after them and dress them up. And I have no books. You know, I really like reading about princesses and princes. I have only one book – they are so expensive. Can I ask for food too? My mom and dad don’t buy meat, but I love it very much. It’s so delicious! And I also want to never go to the doctor again and not to take these nasty medications! That’s it!

(Our dear Santas! Did you hear what little Liziko is dreaming of? It would be great if you could fulfill some of her dreams!)

– And what do you want, Nini?

Nini (Lizi’s older sister,15)I would like to have all sorts of books on history, I love reading about this topic. And I would like my parents to have money for these books. I also decided that I would certainly go to university. I need to work hard to help my parents treat Lizi. I want everything to work out for me. I must try for the sake of my little sister.

– We are sure you will succeed!  Well done for thinking ahead. Now we will complete our conversation with your mom Tsira, can the friends of the Fund help you in any other way? Are there any problems which remain unresolved?

Tsira: You are very attentive – I am so grateful to you! Throughout our life, we have addressed so many people for help, but they refused to provide us even with some insignificant help. And you managed to unite the entire Georgia for the sake of my child. Honestly, we have lots of problems. Lizi told you everything right. The main thing for me is her health. At the moment, she needs examinations, and we barely have enough money for food. I would like my child to have nice clothes, her favorite books, food… You see what conditions we live in, how needy we are. I beg you, for Lizi’s sake, please don’t leave us! The child perked up, I really did not expect such a change in her and I hold on to this fragile happiness! I beg you, be with us!

For God’s sake, for the sake of this smile, let’s keep fighting for Lizi’s life and happiness!

  ***

Dear friends! See how happy Lizi is? Each of you has instilled a sparkle of hope in the heart of this little sick girl! Do you see how her pretty face shines with a smile? Lizi dreams and believes again!

But time goes on, supply of food and medications that the family has will soon run out.  Lizi’s mother, Tsira, again addressed us asking for help! The family is in great need, they barely have enough for food, and they have a sick daughter in their arms, and she needs treatment and examinations every month. What should Lizi’s parents do now? How should they explain to their child that there will be no lunch or dinner today? The family survives on the meager allowance and pension of the parents. They need everything: foodstuffs, clothes, books and toys for the child. But first of all, Lizi needs treatment.

We won’t let the irreparable to happen, will we? We won’t leave a sick child hungry, will we? My dear ones, let us demonstrate to the entire Georgia, to the whole world that the pain of our compatriots is our pain! Let’s give happiness to little Lizi.
